Today, Thursday March 23 2017 Ridge Road Middle School’s track team will have a track meet against Ranson, held at Ridge Road. Both girls and boys will be competing this afternoon. We are sure that Ranson will be a tough competitor, and give Ridge Road a run for their money. But let us all wish the people that are competing for Ridge Road good luck. Hopefully they will bring home their first win for the first game of this season.

Some people say cheerleading isn't a sport. What is your response to these opinions?
We talked about this topic
"I get very irritated when people say cheerleading isn't a sport because at cheer practice, we have to put a lot of effort and energy at practice. We have to throw people in the air, do toe touches, hard cheering and other activities. We feel like if you have to hold 100 + pound girls for a period of time then it's considered a sport. If you have to take your time out of the day to practice, prepare and work out to do complex things, then it's considered a sport. You have to put all 100% and practice to do movements that most people couldn't particularly do. It's not easy doing three toe touches at one, or doing backflips all over the time, or screaming the cheers by top of your lungs so you can get the word out to represent Ridge Road MIddle School. Ourselves and other cheerleading girls have to perform and practice just like how an athlete would. Any person who plays football, basketball or any other sports knows that you have to put 110% effort and dedication so that your skills can have a good reputation.
Being an athlete means you have to look good at what you do. You can't just perform looking any kind of way and doing what you want to do just to get the job done. We have to represent ourselves for who we are and to build our school with positive energy. Also cheerleading isn't a just consider a sport. It's about communication and teamwork. Every sport, you have to treat all of your teammates like family and even when you disagree with some people, you still have to show all respect and kindness. When we cheer, we work hard as one to show what we can do.
Our cheer battles takes A LOT of practice and we gotta put 110% positive attitude and hard movements so that we build ourselves and the school's reputation. "
So, cheerleading is forever and always gonna be consider a sport and for everybody who disagree, we will always oppose their opinion.

How to Tell if You are Sports Material

Boys and girls soccer and baseball tryouts are on Wednesday the 22nd. Boys and Girls Track tryouts are on Monday the 27th. If you plan on trying out you should Try and get a physical assessment before Tuesday the 20th. If you have any questions about any sports, for soccer please contact Mr. Mehall in the 8th grade hall and Ms. Cafero in the 7th grade hall and for track please contact Mr. Williams in the CTE hall and Ms. Oates in the 7th grade hall.
If you are deciding to try out make sure you are a team player, have the right mindset, and are ready to work. Being on the team means you’d have to keep your grades at or above a C-average. So if you have below a C-average means that you unfortunately will not be able to make or stay on the team. For future reference if you were to get suspended you would not be able to continue on trying out for the team or being able to stay on the team. So it would be your best interest to stay out of trouble.
While you are trying out you should focus on staying safe. It should always be your main priority for trying out, but on the field and while practicing you are at a greater risk of obtaining an injury. If you have an injury you may not be able to play depending on the severity of the condition of your wound. So it would be best for you and your teammates if you would take the proper precautions so you are able to continue playing. You wouldn’t want any injuries to affect the way you try out or play.

Sports have been a big part of the 2016-2017 school year like football, softball ,basketball and now baseball and soccer and even if you are not an official athlete we have science Olympiad who have worked hard to get where they are towards the end of their training.
The basketball team was recently interviewed and they had some pretty good responses to the questions asked the article thirty second timeout which interviewed a few of our scholar athletes from the basketball team. Also have you heard about the newly picked soccer team that was picked on Monday February 27.
Let's get to the good stuff if you haven't realized if you were sports material yet then you should consider looking because according to the article spring sports it states that safety is a main priority in conditioning and practicing for our scholar athletes and other athletes like how you should take precautions and that you should not play if you are injured prior to playing.
